What is Blackbullion?

- Free to all University of Hertfordshire students; just register with the email address on your student record and student ID number
How does it work?
- Learning Pathways are delivered through short video lessons, making the content quick and engaging
- Throughout the modules, you will answer questions to test your knowledge and grow your financial skills
How do I sign up?

- Click Register
- Follow the onboarding flow
- Select Hertfordshire as your University
- Enter your student email address*
- Verify your student email address by clicking the link in your student inbox
- You're in!

Open Banking
From the 2023/24 academic year, Blackbullion is encouraging students to use Open Banking to submit bank statements when applying for financial support. This will enable students to automatically link their bank accounts, as well as annotate within Blackbullion if needed, rather than providing .pdf bank statements manually and adding comments to transactions.
Open Banking is completely safe and secure and has been used by 7 million people in the UK since its introduction in 2015. For more information on Open Banking, please see Blackbullion's Open Banking explained article here.
Blackbullion and the University Financial Assistance Fund (UFAF)
Students applying to the University Financial Assistance Fund (UFAF) must complete the Learning Pathways. These will be assigned to you after you have applied.
- Students must achieve a 80% pass mark
You can retake the learning pathway and final challenge as many times as you need into to gain the required marks.
- In order for the retake to be successful, make sure you’ve completed the learning pathway and final challenge
- You will have to go through and answer all questions in the second round, not just those that you missed the first time
Your UFAF application cannot be accepted if Blackbullion is incomplete at the point of submission you will be required to resubmit the application with updated evidence. Please see the UFAF page for more information.
