Credibility interviews as part of your Student Visa application

Learn about what happens if you are called for interview as part of the application process

What are credibility interviews and who needs one?

Credibility interviews are a part of the visa application process meant to ensure that anyone requesting a student visa has genuine plans to study in the UK.

Some students who apply for permission to remain in the UK as a Student must attend a credibility interview.

How are interviews arranged?

The Home Office will invite you to your interview in writing (via email and letter) and you must confirm with the Home Office that you will attend.

How to change an appointment

If you are unable to attend your interview on the date you have been offered, it is essential to contact the Interview Hub immediately.

⚠️ Your visa will be refused if you do not attend.

The questions you’ll be asked

Some things you may be asked questions about include your course, academic history, and future plans. You may also be asked about your personal background, finances, and/or to confirm your personal details. It is important to always answer honestly.

Be aware of potential fraud

The Home Office will never ask for any payments over the telephone and you should not give out your credit card details. If you are unsure about a letter or telephone call which you have received, please come and speak to a Student Immigration Adviser.
